While Verizon starts the first day of selling the iPhone to the general public, an Apple badyst estimates that the carrier could sell more than one million handsets over the first three days, including 250 000 pre-orders from Verizon subscribers. The addition of Verizon to existing AT & T iPhone sales marks a major battle in the war for smartphone market share, "said Thursday to investors Gene Munster, badyst of Piper Jaffray.
Noting that Verizon's iPhone has been sold twice during the pre-order period, demand exceeds both Apple's and the carrier's expectations, Munster writes.
Munster said its previous estimate Apple would sell 16.2 million iPhones worldwide during the quarter ending in March could be too low, considering the receipt of Verizon.
