A group of lotto operators wronged under the generic name, the Association of Lottery Agents of Ghana, have threatened mbadive demonstrations nationwide if the government and the authority of the National lottery did not respond to their concerns within 14 days.
They demand a complete reversal of the ALN's mandatory imposition of imported electronic kiosks.
They say that the prices, between 15 000 and 20 000 GH ¢, are too exorbitant.
Kwaku Duah-Tawiah, executive secretary of the lottery agents, told XYZ News that they were even more unhappy with the NLA's decision to tax a sum of 1 million Cedis from Ghana in the form of registration and licensing fees for a bankers regularization transaction.
So they are ready to go down the street if nothing positive is heard within 14 days.
The threat of more than 400,000 officers comes just 24 hours after the Coalition of Unemployed Private and Public Medical Laboratories Staff, which has about 1,500 people, issued a one-week ultimatum to the government to grant it a financial authorization.
These unrest, including pressure from registered nurses from private institutions for jobs, should give the government headaches, but the appointees say they are being resolved.
Meanwhile, the two – week ultimatum launched by the Vehicle and Asset Dealers Association to protest the tax on luxury vehicles is coming to an end today.
Yaw Barima, who represents the True Drivers Union PRO, told XYZ News that they would meet later in the day to decide on their next line of action.
He said that a letter from Finance Minister Ken Offori Atta addressed to these people did not mention any date or time, which he described as disrespectful.
