An epidemic of E. Coli makes sick Tennesseans, others

(WVLT / WTKR) – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have declared that an epidemic of E. Coli in several states had sickened 72 people, some in Tennessee.

Eight people involved in the epidemic were hospitalized; no deaths have been reported. CBS affiliate, WTKR, reported that people started falling ill on March 2.

Patients are aged one to 74 years old.

Tennessee has reported 21 sick patients and Kentucky 36.

Government officials have not identified a food product, grocery store or restaurant chain as a source of E. coli.
