A similar session in March 2018 resulted in the death of one of the cadets.

George Annoh, 31, reportedly collapsed and died during the exercises for all those enrolled at the Academy.

Alex Aidoo 35 also died in 2013 – his very first day at the academy – when new recruits were recruited during the pre-arrival exercise.

Deputy Commisioner Junior Appiah-Warden confirmed in an interview with Mawuli Yevu-Agbi, Joy News correspondent for the Volta region, that the video was taken at the Academy.

He also admitted the death of Annoh but declined to give further details. He however indicated that a coroner's inquest was in progress on the matter.
