An "expanded" police committee charged with investigating the Ayawaso's partial election shootout

The Police Administration announced that it had expanded its investigation committee on the incident of the shooting at the West Wuogon Ayawaso by-election.

According to the police, investigations will focus on the professional and criminal conduct of those involved in the incident.

According to a statement signed by the Director General of Public Affairs of the ACP, Mr. David Eklu, members of the Bureau of Professional Standards Police, the Directorate of Prosecutions and Police, police operations, as well as investigators from the Judicial Police and the airport division have joined the investigation.

CPA George Tweneboah, Deputy Director General, leads the commission of inquiry, the statement said.

He added that in-depth investigations would be conducted in line with the current police transformation agenda to ensure the highest professional standards in the Ghana Police Service.

As part of the investigation process, he said the statements had been collected by 16 victims of the shooting.
