Tributes pour in for a popular Indian comedian who died in Dubai on Friday night.

Manjunath Naidu, 36, has been a prominent part of the UAE for many years.

According to local media, Naidu has collapsed in the ensuing minutes on stage.

Some of the 80 members of the crowd first thought it was part of the act. When he did not get up, the hotel staff administered him CPR before taking him to a hospital in Al Barsha, where he died. A cause of death has not been revealed.

Naidu was originally from Chennai and had been performing in Dubai for five years.

His colleagues and friends paid tribute to him on social media.

Salman Qureshi, who also played that night, said that he could not believe what had happened.

"My brother, the funniest guy, can not believe you're gone," he wrote on Twitter.

Another actress, Philippine Imah Dumagay, said people adored and respected her
