THeresa May should not be allowed to coach the Conservatives in early elections, warned the Conservatives.
A series of ministers and MPs told The Telegraph that the party would be "annihilated" at the polls if the prime minister insisted on running a campaign to defeat the European Parliament at Brexit in the coming months.
The warning came as soon as it appeared that senior ministers had practically given up all hope of the Democratic Unionist Party, which supported the government and backed Mrs May's agreement on Brexit.
The refusal of its members to move means that it is more and more likely that Parliament will legislate this week to force it to ask for a flexible Brexit, if private members can agree on a specific plan ….
