Judge Kekeli Biedo, a 6-year-old boy, is fighting for his life at Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Dzodze after part of an unfinished church building collapsed on top of him and his brother, reported GNA.

Her brother, Kingsley Biedo, 13, who is believed to have suffered a fracture, is also responding to treatment.

The building has been identified as a branch of the Church of Divine Healing in Adetsewui in the southern municipality of Akatsi in the Volta region.

Mr. Kennedy Biedo, father of the two victims, who is also a member of the Assembly of the region, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that his sons, who are students of the Akatsi Duawodome Basic school left Akatsi on Friday to visit their grandmother in Adetsewui, when disaster struck them.

He said that on Sunday, February 21, at approximately 5:30 a.m., his sons and their aunt went to the Church premises to prepare her for the service.

He added that part of the building, which has no pillars, gave way and fell on his sons.

Fortunately, the Church was not in session at the time of the incident, the Ghana News Agency observed.

However, the South Akatsi municipal office of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has not yet assessed the situation for possible action.
