Great Britain insists that its tanker seized by Iran was in Omani territorial waters.
And he asked that the ship be released in a letter to the UN Security Council, accusing Iran of "unlawful interference".
Oman also asked Iran to let the tanker go.
This comes after the British government summoned Tehran's top diplomat to London.
