Ander Herrera revealed that he had left Manchester United because of a difference of opinion about his role in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's projects.
The 29 year old Spanish signed for Paris St Germain a free transfer earlier this month after five years at Old Trafford.
When asked why he was gone, Herrera told the Spanish newspaper Marca"I do not like watching the past a lot, but there were differences about the project and my importance within it.
"I was very happy, I have a lot to thank the club and the fans as well as Solskjaer. He did a lot to stay, but nothing happened, they arrived late and I had already made the decision to play in Paris. "
Former teammate Herrera, David De Gea, has been badociated several times with a move to PSG in recent years.
But Herrera was shy when asked, citing the quality of PSG goalkeepers Alphonse Areola and Kevin Trapp.
He said: "David is my friend, I have a great relationship with him and, of course, he is one of the best in the world, for me the top three. But here, there are already two great goalkeepers. "
Herrera's arrival in Paris coincided with continued speculation about the future of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, but asked if he expected them to stay next season. He replied, "Yes, I believe it.
The World Cup winner, Mbappe, is currently one of the hottest properties in the game, but Herrera knows that the 20-year-old French striker still has a long way to go to reach the standard set by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
"One of the things I admire at Messi and Cristiano is continuity, reliability year after year. It's very difficult and they are always decisive.
"Mbappe has everything to do it, but time will tell if it will manage to maintain that consistency."
