Andy Ruiz Jnr recruits as replacement fighter for Anthony Joshua

Andy Ruiz Jnr is expected to be Anthony Joshua's replacement opponent for the world heavyweight title in New York.

Joshua was forced to look for an alternative after his original opponent, Jarrell Miller of the United States, failed multiple doping tests for their June 1 fight at Madison Square Gardens.

Ruiz was not on the initial list of options but raised his hand after the swift demolition of the great German-Russian Alexander Dimitrenko on April 20, putting him in shape for a quick turnaround.

In the United States and Britain, several mainstream media and boxing venues have hinted that Ruiz had agreed on a contract for the fight that would feature the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO titles.

Mexican-American Ruiz calls on Joshua promoter Eddie Hearn, who has based the bulk of his 32-1 career in the United States. Joshua makes his debut in the United States.

Ruiz has already had a shot at the title against New Zealand's Joseph Parker in the fight for the vacant WBO belt in Auckland at the end of 2016.

Parker won the thriller in the majority of points – the judges scored the game 115-113 (twice), 114-114 in his favor – and twice defended the belt before losing it to Joshua at the time. a unanimous decision in 2018, the only time the Great Briton was taken a distance.
