Anfield's change fueling the Liverpool title and Jurgen Klopp's next task – John Aldridge

Anfield once again has an aura about it. We saw this against Crystal Palace at weekends.

Look at Liverpool's home record. It's fantastic.

And we'll need it – we'll probably have to win every home game by the end of the season to try to get the job done.

Trust is good at home and the atmosphere is better, which always helps.

The crowd was behind the players in the second half against Palace and, if I'm not mistaken, it helps a lot.

Opposing teams are intimidated. You saw that on the weekends.

But more and more teams are coming in and doing what Palace has done, with a bank of four, a bank of five and making it difficult to play between the lines.

In the second half, we managed even though our overall control of the game was not the one we are used to this season.

It was not the fact that Liverpool did not manage the match well, it was because we had not managed Zaha well.

He had the best game I saw him play. It was quite difficult to score and James Milner, right-hand substitute, performed well under the circumstances.

We should have closed Zaha and let the palace go down the other wing. We have not managed their main threat.

Liverpool 4-3 Crystal Palace

Palace had only three shots on goal and every time they advance, they look pretty dangerous. But the goals they scored could have been avoided.

When we had a 2-1 lead this season, we managed to stick to it and stay firm on the defense. It was different from us, we do not have the habit of seeing ourselves conceding so many goals.

It was a crazy match, but we have already seen a lot of times at Anfield, where Liverpool is drawn from the affair. And you have to respect the players – they were in a hole and they came out with four goals in the second half.

We slipped. But we won. And it is essential. We did it at the right time and deserve our recognition.

Liverpool got what he deserved at the end, no matter what others would say.

"Klopp has cleaned the dead wood – his next task is to replace them"

Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool signs contract extension at Anfield on January 18, 2019

The new contracts for Liverpool duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson are fully deserved.

We have had a lot of dead wood over the years, but the team is now clear.

There are a number of players on long-term agreements, and there are also young people coming in.

Jurgen Klopp could consider spending three or four this summer, but otherwise the job has been much easier for the manager because of the work he and the club have done in recent years.

You can go through the team and there are some very committed players in Anfield.

Alison Becker, Robertson, Virgil van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and the three boys at the front.

Compare that to Everton, who goes through successive managers and has a lot of dead wood.

Liverpool had it in the past. But Klopp did a fantastic job of downsizing.

The task now is to replace those who will leave with better players.
