The mining giant Anglo Gold Ashanti has announced its intention to recruit about 2,500 workers after its determination to resume its large-scale operations on its Obuasi mine.

Mr. Eric Asubonteng also reported on various ongoing projects to bring the company back into business.

He badured the public that, in order to diversify the economy of Obuasi, the company involved all Obuasi enterprises by awarding major contracts to entrepreneurs in Obuasi, including the renovation of 1,500 units. dwelling in Obuasi.
Other contracts include catering services to Mawuli, Cofcans, Afrikana, Yaw Fosu and others. Other security contracts were also awarded to security forces based in Obuasi.
The education and health sectors are areas in which the company is particularly interested in ensuring socio-economic development within the municipality and at the district level.

He said that the management had been submerged after visiting the depths or the underground section of the mine to witness a larger development, which has already been done.
Mr. Graham emphasized that the result of the fruitful cooperation between the company and its stakeholders to reorganize the Obuasi mine would go a long way towards ensuring development in Obuasi and Ghana in general.
He also congratulated the traditional leaders and the Adansi government for their interventions in the initial stages of realizing the redevelopment of the Obuasi mine.
He said the company would then be able to produce its first household gold by December 2019, while much work would be needed to ensure increases of up to 4,000 tonnes per day by the end. of 2020.
