The angry young men are troubled by the power cuts that occur every night in this part of the country, especially as their ancestors, to whom the lands on which the hydroelectric dam was built have reached an agreement with the government compensation for the dispossession of their land by the government.

The marauding youth threatened to strike any member of the Energy Distribution Services (PDS) staff who dared to advance in the area.

Fire officials rushed to the scene, but the youths took her away and prevented the firefighters from lifting the inflamed blockade that had resulted in a stalemate.

Energy Minister John Peter Amewu has promised the nation to restore its regular power supply by April 12, 2019.

Earlier Wednesday, Amewu said his ministry would ensure that electricity distributors inform end-users of periods when they will not have access to electricity within 12 days. days.

The main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Energy Think Tank, the African Center for Energy Policy (ACEP), demanded a load shed schedule.

The government said that engineering works to help transport gas from the west to the east, where the power stations are located, are the source of breakdowns, which should end on April 12.

Responding to a question about the need for a load shed schedule in the meantime, Mr Amewu said at a public meeting of the Economic Management Team (EMT) in Accra, on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, that they "asked the different agencies to provide information to areas that will not be lit."

He added: "For example, I am told that in the Ashanti region, most of these areas have already been informed before closure. I am quite surprised to see that some regions do not receive this information here in Accra because I still hold it in my opinion. They send me a notice stating that these areas will not be able to experience the light ".

He added: "Mr. Vice-President, we will continue to insist that we intensify some works so that people out of light can be informed that they will not know the light …"
