Seth Yormewu, the President’s District General Manager (DCE) candidate for Anloga will have to undergo a second confirmation exercise after failing to meet the goal on the first attempt.

Although he failed to get the required number of votes from the members present to confirm him as a DCE, he did well enough to earn himself an automatic second chance confirmation exercise within 10 days. .

Depending on the requirement, a candidate must obtain two-thirds or more of the votes of the members of the assembly present and voting for confirmation or the ballot 50 percent or more to have a chance of another ballot being held on him in 10 days, while failure to vote 50 percent is considered outright rejection.

Mr. Yormewu, the first DCE of the newly created Anloga District, obtained 20 “NO” votes and 21 “YES” votes, representing 51.2% approval at the end of the confirmation exercise.

Ms Evelyn Wutor of the Anloga Election Commission, facilitator of the exercise in declaring the verdict of the Assembly members, said “unless the president withdraws the nomination” her outfit would proceed to another confirmation exercise for the candidate in 10 days.

Earlier, Dr Archibald Letsa, the regional minister who oversaw the Anloga process, and others across the region prayed that the house would be filled with a ‘yes’ so that Mr Yormewu could receive unanimous support. .

Richard Kwame Sefe, MP for Anloga who also followed the regional minister’s lead, preached assembly members to drop any grievances they may have had with the DCE and support it by arguing that the young district “is particular” and necessary to move forward as quickly as possible to run the business on alert, “we have practically lost a year”.

Mr. Yormewu for his part thanked the members of the Assembly for their decision so well communicated and wished that he succeeds in the second attempt so that together they can get back to work for the progress of the District of Anloga. .
