Another case of measles has been identified in the Lower Mainland.

The sick person lives in the Fraser Health Health Center, the authority said Tuesday night, and visited many public places while being contagious.

Anyone who was in the following locations at the times indicated may have been exposed and must review their vaccination record and look for signs of the virus.

Saturday, April 13

  • International Terminal at Vancouver International Airport between 10:25 and 16:30.
  • Japan Airlines flight JL018 from Tokyo to Vancouver

Sunday, April 14

  • Ramada by Wyndham, 631 Lougheed Highway, Coquitlam
  • Sun Star Restaurant (inside the Ramada) between 8:30 AM and noon
  • Downtown Lougheed, 9855 Austin Ave, Burnaby, between 10:30 am and 3:30 pm.

Public health officials follow up with people who have been exposed to the virus.

The person became ill while overseas and is not related to the epidemic reported earlier this year from a group of French-language schools in Vancouver. This is the 27th case of measles in BC

Anyone who thinks they have measles is asked to call their doctor before going home.

Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose and red eyes, followed a few days later by a rash that starts on the face and spreads to the chest.

Vaccines are free at your family doctor, walk-in clinic, primary emergency care center and possibly your pharmacist.
