Sekondi High Court 2 on Wednesday remanded a 29-year-old Nigerian, John Oji, on remand, in connection with the three abducted girls in Takoradi, in the western region.

Oji, who appeared in the High Court of Sekondi-Takoradi II, was charged with conspiracy to kidnap and kidnap and must reappear on June 26 of this year.

Earlier, Samuel Udoetuk, the suspect being the subject of a lawsuit in the kidnapping case, had mentioned John Oji as being the key to finding out where the girls were kidnapped.

The three girls have been away for more than eight months now.

Samuel Udoetuk Wills, 28, who was arrested as a result of the kidnapping, broke his cell for eight days and was arrested again on December 30.

Wills was charged with evasion, destruction of public property and resistance to lawful arrest, and sentenced for all three counts to 18 months' concurrent imprisonment.

Oji arrived at Sekondi High Court in a police vehicle, his face covered, which made it almost impossible for journalists to see him.

Ms. Adelaide Kobire Wood, a leading state attorney, asked Judge Hannah Taylor, who presided at the hearing, to put the suspect in custody so that the police could continue his investigation.

To this day, parents, families and supporters are in a state of desperation because the three girls, Priscilla Bentum, Priscilla Mantebea Koranchie and Ruth Love Quayson, abducted in different communities of the city, are still missing.
