Ant McPartlin revealed that he was turning to mate Robbie Williams to fight his demons drinks.

The 43-year-old television presenter found solace for Robbie, who had been sober for years after his own drinking problems.

The star of Geordie entered rehab last March after his arrest for impaired driving, after a previous attempt at sobriety that had failed the previous year.

Ant told the Sun: "Rob is a constant and has always been through, I've seen him recently.

"I gave him my twentieth birthday and I thought he was brilliant, and Ayda (Field Williams) as well."

Robbie gave up drinking alcohol two decades ago and is preparing to celebrate his 20th anniversary of sobriety later this year.

Ant first made public his problems in the summer of 2017, when he revealed that he had become addicted to prescription drugs and alcohol.

He revealed that he had begun abusing painkillers after being caught in a physical and mental "agony" following a failed knee surgery in 2015.

As a result of his first retraining attempt in 2017, Ant left his wife Lisa Armstrong heartbroken when he announced in January 2018 that they were separating.

He has since found love with his former musical badistant Anne Marie Corbett, whom he hailed as "my rock" and "a beautiful soul" for helping him in these difficult times.

Ant has recently started filming the new series of Britain's Got Talents with its presentation partner Declan Donnelly, after having occupied most of 2018 to focus on its sobriety.

He missed the last series of I'm Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here !, leaving Holly Willoughby to take his place.

However, he insisted that it was not expected that Holly will join the show this year and he will be back with Dec as usual in the fall.
