Anthony Martial extended his contract until 2024

Anthony Martial has signed a contract extension with Manchester United, which will keep him at the club until June 2024, with the possibility of extending it for a year.

The existing Martial contract was due to expire at the end of this season before the United activates a one – year extension clause in November.

The talks on an extension have been going on for months, Martial having rejected an offer from United last October, but they reached an agreement.

Anthony Martial had a mixed relationship with former United manager Jose Mourinho

Martial faced the manager of the time, Jose Mourinho, last summer, when he returned to France after the preparatory tour of the club in the United States for the birth of his child.

His agent, Philippe Lamboley, publicly stated in June that Martial wanted to leave because United had not demonstrated that he wanted to make this 23-year-old man "an important member of the team".

But Martial has become a key player for United this season with Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He played in 22 of his 24 Premier League games (18 starts) and scored eight times.

He contributed to the rebirth of United under Solskjaer, the Norwegian having settled for three years on a favorite front of Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard.
