The controversial move of Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona should be the subject of an investigation by the Spanish Football Federation.
Griezmann joined the La Liga champions earlier this week, completing a protracted move that was first mentioned last summer.
Barcelona claims to have activated a clause in the French contract allowing it to leave for 120 million euros from 1 July.
Atletico, however, claims that its rivals began trading with Griezmann as early as March, which means that they owe them an extra 80 million euros due to an earlier clause in his contract.
The club itself has not yet filed a formal complaint, but according to information provided in Spain, the federation reportedly opened a file along the way.
Barcelona has always denied any wrongdoing. The president of the club, Josep Maria Bartomeu, said: "I spoke to them, but I do not think there is any evidence, because there is no evidence of anything.
"I understand that everyone is defending their interests and I have spoken to [Enrique] Cerezo [Atletico president]but I do not see that the business can evolve positively for them. There is nothing.
"We contacted Griezmann after he made the video saying goodbye to the fans, there was nothing in March."
The player himself added: "As far as Atletico is concerned, it is a pity, I went to see them on purpose to prevent them from being caught unprepared and to prepare for the future."
Griezmann was linked to a move to Barcelona last summer but decided to stay at Atletico before making the opposite decision this summer.
His place in the Diego Simeone team was replaced by young star Joao Felix who joined the Benfica team for 130 million euros.
Atletico beat some of the biggest clubs in the world, including Manchester City.
