The driver and his mate aboard the Kia truck were trapped in their mutilated vehicle
At least two people – a driver and a train conductor – were killed in a deadly road accident on the Akyem Anyinasin Junction section of the Accra-Kumasi highway near Bonsu.
Three others were injured, police said.
The accident occurred Saturday at dawn around 5.30 am when a cargo truck carrying mining equipment headed for Anyinam collided head-on with a dump truck carrying charcoal up to Accra, the capital.
According to Isaac Okyere, Assembly member at Akyem Anyinasin, he organized a local rescue team to the scene shortly after the accident, while waiting for a response from the police. 39; emergency.
The driver and his companion aboard the Kia truck were trapped in their mutilated vehicle and had to be ripped off by the fire department staff.
He added that the driver and the two other pbadengers aboard the cargo truck were taken to the hospital.
The accident resulted in a traffic jam on the road and the police are on the scene to ensure smooth traffic.
