Fears for Ghana say a dozen unidentified children die after drowning while swimming inside Apam Beach in the central region on Monday March 8.

According to an AFP report, the district police commander, DSP Moses Osakono, confirmed that he found eight bodies collecting them on the beach.

So far, three of the children survive and receive treatment, but the rescue team is searching the waters to retrieve the remaining bodies.

Community members say more people are likely dying from the children swimming at Apam Beach on Sunday.

Children use unapproved routes to avoid Covid-19 protocols that prohibit recreational activities, so they use an area to swim if an accident occurs.

For the sake of the nature of their use, people do not find them easily until the morning when they begin to recover the bodies.

Children between the ages of 14 and 17 play soccer while others swim on Sundays for Apam Beach on Sundays.

It is not known what the cause of the accident is, but some locals say it is like a big wave of the sea that hit the area where the children are swimming.

Ghana imposes Covid-19 restrictions on activities such as the beach, it is not known how children escape authorities’ surveillance until an accident occurs.
