Apple has just proposed an update to its developer application sales agreement, offering developers the opportunity to offer their apps with a 50% discount to educational institutions.

The idea is to allow educational institutions to preload the same applications on many iOS devices for distribution to students and teachers, while encouraging developers to offer their applications at a lower price.

The half-price discount only applies to bulk downloads of twenty or more applications purchased at a time. If you're a developer, it's pretty easy to sign up: just accept the new documents and check the box next to "Discount for educational institutions".
