Apple Music is expected to be the exclusive host of the live broadcast of a global listening event for the premiere of Kanye West’s “Donda,” the rap star’s tenth studio album.

Def Jam Recordings in a Tweeter announced on Tuesday that West will present their highly anticipated album at a sold-out listening event at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Thursday. Apple Music will broadcast the listening event live starting at 8 p.m. EST. “Donda” will be released a day later, on July 23.

Apple’s role in the proceedings was revealed in a Beats commercial that aired in Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

The spot, tagged and edited by West, features a clip from Donda titled “No Child Left Behind” and stars American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson. The track star starts off at the blocks as she builds up muscle during a nighttime workout. Quick cuts show close-ups of Richardson’s signature nails, red hair and matching Beats Studio Buds before the camera turns off to reveal a photo of her praying.

Richardson burst into the spotlight during the US team’s Olympic track and field trials. Her top 100m spot would have guaranteed a trip to Tokyo, but the result was invalidated after she tested positive for THC. She then admitted to using marijuana to cope with the death of her birth mother and agreed to a one-month suspension. In addition to missing out on the individual competition, the United States has not named Richardson to the 4x100m relay roster, a race that will run outside of his one-month suspension period.

Donda de West, named after her late mother, comes after ‘Jesus is King’ of 2019.

Apple has broadcast live special events in the past, including a concert by British alternative rock band “The 1975” in 2016. Most recently, Apple TV + hosted a live premiere for the exclusive documentary “Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry “in February.
