(Reuters) – The US supplier of automotive spare parts Aptiv announced Wednesday the opening of an autonomous mobility center in Shanghai, with the aim of positioning its autonomous vehicles in China.
The center of the largest automotive market in the world would be one of Aptiv's leading autonomous engineering centers, alongside Boston, Singapore, Pittsburgh and Las Vegas, the company said.
The Shanghai unit will focus on Aptiv L4 or Level 4 technology that will allow cars to drive without drivers under certain conditions.
Aptiv said it is in talks with partners for mapping and commercial deployment of its vehicles in China.
