Arsenal accused by the FA for the invasion of no fans during the victory of Man Utd

Arsenal was charged by the FA after a fan invaded the field during his victory over Manchester United on Sunday.

The fan confronted Chris Smalling and seemed to push the United defender before joining the celebrations after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the Gunners' second goal.

"Arsenal FC has been accused of breaking Rules E20 (a) and (b) of the FA," reads a statement from the FA.

"It is alleged that the club has failed to ensure that its spectators[s] he behaved in an orderly manner and refrained from encroaching on the pitch during the Premier League match against Manchester United on Sunday [10/03/2019].

"They have until 22/03/2019 to answer."

Arsenal issued a statement immediately after their victory to condemn the actions of the supporter and apologize to Chris Smalling.

They said: "We totally condemn the behavior of the individual who rushed to the field and approached Chris Smalling during today's match.

"We would like to apologize to Chris and Manchester United and are happy that this person has been apprehended and arrested and we will work closely with the Metropolitan Police in his investigation.

"The person will also be banned from Arsenal matches, at home and away.Our staff during the day receives ongoing training on incident management such as this one. "

The supporter was later identified as Gary Cooper, a cousin of heavyweight boxing star Tyson Fury.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, he apologized in the following terms: "I'm so ashamed that I let myself down, as well as my family." What happened was nothing to do with the character I'm still in shock and I feel bad.

"I want to apologize to Chris Smalling, Manchester United and Arsenal, I got carried away by the emotion of the match and made a stupid mistake of running on the pitch.

The 30-year-old was charged with common badault and gunners could now land in hot water with the FA for failing to keep their supporters away from the playing field.

The incident was part of a highly publicized weekend of unsavory events involving supporters, with the Second City Derby being marred by a field invader attacking the Aston Villa star, Jack Grealish, earlier in the day.

Smalling's teammate at Manchester United, Ashley Young, has called for greater protection for players after the match and the FA could consider imposing a stiff punishment on the Gunners in order to deter Gunners from avoiding 39, other incidents elsewhere.
