Arsenal would have investigated West Ham on the possibility of signing Issa Diop, but the price requested by the Hammers would annoy him.

The imposing West Ham defender was the subject of a Manchester United approach earlier this summer – and it now seems that Arsenal was also keen to improve the Mustafi Shkodran.

United has instead decided to focus all his efforts on Harry Maguire's signature – with Brendan Rodgers provides an update of their lawsuit Thursday morning.

And that seemed to have paved the way for Arsenal to start and sign the defender – but it seems that the asking price at his head also put the Gunners off.

according to Mercato Foot,Unai Emery investigated Diop Three weeks ago, West Ham claimed £ 65 million for his services.

However, it seems that Emery has decided not to take the initiative with much of his money allocated elsewhere.

Arsenal still needs defensive reinforcements despite accepting William Saliba's signing for £ 27m – the Saint Etienne defender returning to his club for the 2019/20 season.

Gunners are thought to have turned to the Juventus defender Daniel Ruganiwhich is valued at around £ 36 million.

An agreement with left-back Kieran Tierney also seems possible, while Arsenal could provide funds by allowing Krystian Bielik to join Derby under a contract with negotiations to unload Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny before the end of the transfer deadline.
