REUTERS: The Football Association (FA) has accused Arsenal of the ground invasion that had occurred Sunday during the Premier League match against Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium.

The incident occurred in the 69th minute of Arsenal's 2-0 win, when a supporter came to the field to celebrate the goal of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and pushed United's defender Chris Smalling.

He then approached the Arsenal players with arms raised before the stewards escorted him out of bounds. The man was arrested later.

"Arsenal FC has been accused of breaking Rules E20 (a) and (b) of the FA," FA said in a statement.

"It is alleged that the club has not ensured that its spectators behave in a methodical manner and refrain from encroaching on the pitch during the Premier League match against Manchester United on Sunday. "

Arsenal has until March 22 to answer the prosecution.

Ground invasions in England and Scotland over the weekend sparked fears for player safety. Those in the game are announcing a potential tragedy unless firm action is taken to combat this problem.

Prior to the incident at Arsenal, Jack Grealish of Aston Villa had been hit in the face by a man at a championship game (second place) against his local rival Birmingham City, while in Scotland, Rangers captain James Tavernier was attacked at Hibernian.
