Jordi Osei-Tutu was visibly upset as he left the field in tears
Arsenal has sentenced the defender of racial abuse "unacceptable", Jordi Osei-Tutu, who was the victim of a friendly match against the loan club VfL Bochum.
Osei-Tutu, 20, left the field in tears saying that one opposition player had mistreated him.
The defender, who had signed a loan with second-generation German club Bochum, started Tuesday in the preliminary match with the Swiss team from St. Gallen.
The incident occurred two minutes after Osei-Tutu was held for a late tackle.
Arsenal said that they "worked closely with Bochum" and were fully supportive of the player.
"Racism does not belong in our game and we do not tolerate any form of discrimination," reads a club statement.
Osei-Tutu shrugged his teammates before being escorted by a member of the Bochum coaching staff, but managed to pull himself together before returning to the game.
