LIVERPOOL, England – Arsenal have missed an opportunity to strengthen their chances of qualifying in the Champions League after their 1-0 defeat at Everton on Sunday.

At 36 years and 233 days, Phil Jagielka became the Premier League scorer this season when he scored point-blank in the 10th minute at Goodison Park.

The center back replaced late Michael Keane, sick, who participated only for the fourth time of the season. It was Jagielka's first goal in almost two years.

A defeat in the first division in two months for Arsenal makes fourth place vulnerable to Chelsea. London clubs are tied on points with six games to play. Chelsea hosts West Ham Monday.

Tottenham has a point of advance over Arsenal in third place.
