The future of Henrik Mkhitaryan's Arsenal is uncertain.
The Gunners wish to unload the midfielder as well as Mesut Ozil this summer while they're trying to reduce their huge payroll.
Offensive midfielder Mkhitaryan is one of Arsenal's biggest winnings with £ 180,000 a week and only arrived in January. However, as with World Cup winner Ozil earning € 350,000 a week, his new boss, Unai Emery, believes Mkhitaryan's salary could be better spent elsewhere, as he tries to reshape his team.
The finances of Arsenal are put to the test with its payroll, especially inflated.
Emery was limited to loan signatures in the January window and could start the summer with a transfer budget of only 45 million pounds if Arsenal did not qualify for the Champions League next season with a ranking among the top four or as winner of the Europa League.
The free start confirmed by Aaron Ramsey at Juventus, the retirement of Petr Cech and the likely release of Danny Welbeck will help, but find buyers for Mkhitaryan, 30, and Ozil, who will turn 31 in October, will greatly contribute to greatly facilitate the load.
The Armenian international joined Arsenal as part of the exchange that led Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United, and neither of the two men met expectations with their new clubs – although the Chilean did been more disappointed than Mkhitaryan – and both clubs are eager to move on their expensive attackers.
Despite the size of its budget, Emery is aiming for up to four signatures this summer, with a left wing as a priority. The left back, where Celtic Kieran Tierney 's Scottish international, is in his place, central defense and midfielder / striker are in other positions that the UAE leader wants to strengthen.
Emery's chances of signing with Italian star Nicolo Barella, estimated at £ 43 million, could depend on Arsenal's qualification for the Champions League.
Cagliari midfielder Barella, who scored his first goal for his country against Finland on Saturday, is considered a substitute for Ramsey, but the price asked by the 22-year-old could be a big problem.
Arsenal hopes to improve their finances by unloading Mohamed Elneny, Calum Chambers and Shkodran Mustafi.
They hired midfielder Denis Suarez, who was loaned to Barcelona in January, but failed to impress and the Gunners are unlikely to make the decision to make their move permanent.
