Arsenal star Granit Xhaka refused to support Unai Emery after the Europa League's final defeat by the Gunners at Chelsea, saying he "did not know" if his team had progressed under the Spaniard.
The Gunners' 4-1 defeat in Baku allowed Emery to finish his first season at Emirates without a trophy and Arsenal will play its third consecutive Europa League season.
Defeat means that Emery's budget will be around £ 45m this summer. He admitted that several stars of the first team could now leave the club.
Arsene Wenger did not stop asking questions about his future towards the end of his reign, but the collapse of the Gunners at the end of the season under Emery recalls the form they showed under the colors of French during of the last 21 years of his term.
And in an overwhelming badessment of Emery's first year at the head of the Gunners, Xhaka refused to say whether he felt his team had improved under the former boss of Paris Saint-Germain.
When asked if Emery had moved the club forward, Xhaka replied:
& # 39; I do not know. I am not the right person to give you an answer on this subject. "

Before joining Arsenal, Emery had won his previous three finals in the Europa League and was naturally frustrated afterwards.
However, Xhaka says that the Spaniard did not say anything in the locker room and sat down with the team in silence.
& # 39; He [Emery], the players, no one speaks in the locker room, "said Xhaka.
When asked why Emery did not say anything, Xhaka replied, "I do not know. He was disappointed of course. "I think we know how we played, we know we lost the game.
"It's not about shouting. It is not enough to scream if we lose. You can say a lot now but it's not the time to explain why and what's going on. "I think it was a great chance for us and we did not take it."
