Arsenal manager Unai Emery refused to rule out a move by Dani Ceballos, "a very good player".

The Gunners have only recruited 18-year-old forward Gabriel Martinelli so far this summer, but Emery is determined to reinforce before closing the transfer window.

According to reports in Spain, 22-year-old Real Madrid's Ceballos will be the next to pbad through the Emirates, with London's giants being "one step closer" to signing a loan deal for the midfielder.

It is understood that Emery played a key role in persuading Ceballos to join Arsenal alongside Tottenham and Liverpool who also showed interest in the Spanish international.

Ceballos is keen on getting regular play time next season and understands that a temporary transfer to the Premier League would be beneficial for his career.

Asked about rumors around Ceballos during Arsenal's pre-season tour, Emery replied, "I do not want to talk about names, but Ceballos is a very good player."

Although Arsenal apparently has £ 45 million to spend on recruiting new recruits this summer, Emery said the club was looking to recruit "very big, very expensive" players.

"Our goal is to reach three, four players to really improve our team and our team now," added the Spaniard.

"We are very demanding and we are also talking about the possibility of recruiting very big, very expensive players.

"The first player on our list is the first target and after, if we can not have that then [we try to sign] second, but thinking every time they will improve our team. "

Arsenal was also closely tied to Celtic Kieran Tierney's left-back and Emery confirmed he was in close contact with the club on his goals.

"We have a lot of meetings with the club, with [technical director] Edu, also with Josh and Stan Kroenke in Denver, "he said.

"We have a very clear idea: engage the players who can help us with a good performance and the positions we need."
