Arsenal manager Unai Emery could give Denis Suarez his first league debut as the Gunners face defending champion Manchester City.
The Spanish midfielder, who made a loan from Barcelona last month, trained with his new teammates on Friday and hopes to play against Pep Guardiola's side.
Emery remained shy when and where he is likely to put Suarez in his line-up, praising the versatility of the 25-year-old who worked with him in Seville in 2014/15.
When asked about his new pre-match press conference, Emery said, "I think he's good, he's adapting quickly and he's a quality player.
"I think of all the players [to face Man City]. If he starts, I trust him.
"He can play right, left, he can play inside as a player # 10. I will use it in any position. "
Emery's comments suggest that Suarez will likely compete with Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil, Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan for a spot in the starting lineup.
Against City, Ramsey is expected to be preferred to Ozil at No. 10, while the German does not have confidence in high intensity matches.
Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are expected to take the lead while Granit Xhaka is expected to return to a three-man midfielder.
Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi will probably join the Swiss international if the Gunners choose to play in the middle of the field.
Laurent Koscielny is back in training and could return after a nasty jaw injury, although Ainsley Maitland-Niles is about to be tried before the match, while Rob Holding ( ACL) and Sokratis Papastathopoulos (ankle) are both excluded.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan (metatarsal) has resumed training and is available, but Danny Welbeck (ankle) remains a long-time absentee.
