An Accra circuit court has jailed a former security guard at the Commission for State Enterprises (SEC), Arafat Issah, for two years.

Issah has been charged with death threats after threatening to kill SEC Executive President Stephen Asamoah Boateng.

He pleaded guilty to a death threat and was subsequently charged.

YEN.com.gh includes Issah sent an SMS to Asamoah Boateng, asking him for money.

According to a report from Graphic.com.gh, he reportedly threatened to kill Asamoah Boateng if the money had not been paid him.

"All I need is 500 ¢ dollar; if you do not do it, you or your family will be killed. Remember, do not tell anyone, " the textual message as indicated in the facts of the case read.

Issah, however, pleaded with the court to forgive him and added that he had regretted his actions.

When she pronounced sentence, the presiding judge, Rita Abrokwah Doko, stated that the accused was a young man and a primary offender, who was to have a second chance.
