The main religious leaders, chiefs and professionals of the Ashanti region welcomed Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife Samira Bawumia for lunch on New Year’s Day.
This was after the second gentleman and his wife joined various congregations in the region to usher in the new year by asking them to continue supporting the government led by Akufo-Addo to continue to develop the country with various policies and programs. .
Dr Bawumia, who assured the garden city residents of the continued support of the NPP government, reiterated the party’s desire to develop the country regardless of the religious and ethnic origins of Ghanaians.
He stressed the importance of religious tolerance which has made Ghana one of the most peaceful countries in West Africa, stressing that the credit goes to the citizens.
“Today, due to religious acceptance and tolerance, Ghana has been considered one of the most peaceful countries in West Africa and that is to the credit of all of us and especially of the Almighty God, ”he told Power Chapel Worldwide, Kumasi branch on New Year’s Eve.
According to him, the elections which have just ended are a test case of the country’s success in democracy, praising citizens for the different roles they have played.
“The 2020 elections were just another opportunity to test the strength of Ghanaian democracy and luckily we sailed peacefully and successfully.
“The devil was not allowed to destroy this country… the devil is a liar. The Ghanaians elected Nana Akufo-Addo and the nuclear power plant. We thank God for the victory… the battle still belongs to the Lord, ”he said.
The lunch was attended by Archbishop Akwasi Sarpong – Archbishop Emeritus of the Kumasi Diocese of the Catholic Church, Bishop Prof Yinka Sarfo, Archbishop of the Anglican Church, Reverend Prof. Paul Frimpong Manson, general overseer of the Assemblies of God Church, Manwerehene of Otumfuor, some leaders of the National Cathedral project, officials of UTAG, leaders of the Ghana Medical Association and the Association of the Ghana Bar, the Vice-Chancellor of Universities in the region, and many others.
