Ashgold will play in the CAF Confed Cup
Ashantigold, the Ghana Premier League (GPL), has recruited 11 new players to strengthen its team for the Confederation Cup of the African Confederation of Football (CAF) 2019/2020.
The Obuasi-based club has signed Brazilian striker Marco Silva and 10 local players to give them the necessary impact in Africa.
The home players are Benjamin Eshun of Liberty Professionals, David Abanga of Wa All Stars, Stephen Owusu (Berekum Chelsea), Musah Mohammed (Ebusua Nains), Kwadwo Amoako (Onze Wonders), and Atta Kussi and Akwasi Nti (Kotoko).
Others are Emmanuel Osei Baffour (Karela United), two players from the Ashgold youth team, Razak Simpson and Isaac Opoku Agyemang.
Ashgold had previously enlisted the services of Brazilian coach Ricardo da Rocha after the departure of former coach Kjetil Zacharibaden for his regional rivals Asante Kotoko.
The Miners will begin their CAF Confederation Cup 2019-2020 campaign with an away match against Equatorial Guinean club Akonangui, which will begin the weekend of Aug. 9-11.
Ashgold will host the second leg on the weekend of August 23-25.
If they qualify, they will stage the first leg of the second round against the Renaissance Sportsman Berkane, Morocco, on the weekend of 13 to 15 September.
