Ashley Cole won 107 selections for England between 2011 and 2014
Manager Frank Lampard hopes that his friendship with Ashley Cole will prompt his former teammate from England and Chelsea to join him in Derby County.
Cole is a free agent after leaving Los Angeles Galaxy in November and the 38-year-old is in talks for a transfer to the championship club.
Lampard, who described Cole as "the biggest left-back of his generation," said that the player's attitude was remarkable.
"He's a great pro and a good boy, we're looking at him," said Lampard.
"I talk to Ash all the time, we are good friends.
"I know that he's very fit, fresh and wants to keep playing, so it comes to my mind because I know the influence he would have."
