Ashley Cole named the best coach under which he played in Chelsea – Jose Mourinho snubs

Ashley Cole ignored Jose Mourinho when he was asked to name the greatest coach he played under at Chelsea.

Instead of the man who signed it for the Arsenal Blues, Cole named Luiz Felipe Scolari as the best boss with whom he worked at Stamford Bridge, and even placed Carlo Ancelotti in front of Mourinho.

Cole spent eight years in Chelsea after joining his Arsenal children's club in 2006.

The transfer was controversial involving Mourinho and saw Cole be fined £ 100,000 by the Premier League for making contact with the Blues before speaking to Arsenal.

Cole was clearly desperate to play under the Portuguese, who won the title in his first season at the club.

But apparently, he played better football than one of the men who replaced him.

"I enjoyed Scolari, Ancelotti – it's probably my favorite two," said Cole at Sky Sports. "I think Scolari, he came at a time when I was probably not playing as well as I knew when I first came to Chelsea.

"Probably Chelsea fans can agree with me that it was not Ashley Cole that they knew at Arsenal, so he came and he brought this new youth." It was like playing for the Brazil: He said, "Let's play like Brazil! "

"And he bombarded me with people like Jamie Carragher and [Jose] Bosingwa on the other side and yes, we had no rules about being able to play, we could go where we want, left back and right back were going at the same time – that's a unheard of at times.

"We were playing a good football and in December we got a bit stuck, and then he got the bag, the best football we've ever played in a Chelsea jersey, but he got it."
