“I constantly felt bad about it.”
Ashley Tisdale takes back her power. She spoke about the negative reviews she received when she got a nose job in 2007 to correct her deviated septum.
“Plastic surgery was not then culturally accepted as it is today,” she writes on her website Frenshe. “When I did, I was scrutinized, judged and ashamed of my decision.”
“I made a decision which was nobody’s business (and which is ALWAYS nobody’s business) and for this decision, I was constantly made to feel bad about it”, a- she continued. “If anything, I was not safe after the procedure.”
The High school music star said People in 2007 she had to undergo rhinoplasty because she was “having trouble breathing”, and the older she got, the harder it was to breathe.
“I went to have it checked, and the doctor told me that the septum was 80% deviated and that I had two small fractures in my nose,” she explained at the time.
“At the end of the day, I have a daughter and I hope her choices will not be judged or shamed,” she wrote on her website. “It took me years to deal with this experience – an experience that I also didn’t think was such a big deal.”
“BUT I choose to see this as a push to face it, write it down and finally let go,” she added. “If only other women could approach this subject the same way, we could probably feel less shame and a lot more love.”
When Tisdale’s daughter arrives, she will have a strong mother to admire.
