Asos signs deal with Nordstrom to sell Topshop in US stores | Asos

Online fashion retailer Asos has reached a deal with US department store chain Nordstrom to bring Topshop clothing to physical stores.

Nordstrom takes a minority stake in the Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge and Activewear HIIT brands – which Asos bought in March after the collapse of Sir Philip Green’s Arcadia Empire – for an undisclosed amount, as part of a joint venture announced Monday.

Nordstrom will sell the brands on its websites and in its 350 stores. It will also allow buyers to collect and return Asos products to its stores.

“The partnership with Nordstrom will support our US strategy, allowing us to deliver this to more than 20+ years in North America,” said Asos Managing Director Nick Beighton.

Nordstrom operates in the United States and Canada and attracts nearly 2 billion annual visits to its website each year. The company had a long history with Topshop, before the collapse of Arcadia, having sold its clothing in the United States from 2012. However, this will be the first time that clothing owned by Asos will be released.

Asos acquired Topshop, alongside other major Arcadia brands, out of administration in a £ 330million deal in March. Arcadia collapsed in November 2020, after years of poor trade and high costs that were exacerbated by the pandemic.

“We are excited to bring the Asos brands to our customers and we know we can help further amplify the recognition of the already popular Topshop and Topman brands,” said Pete Nordstrom, President and Brand Director of Nordstrom.
