The late Ahmed Hussein-Suale
Ghana's President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has joined the long list of people and institutions – national and foreign – mourning the murder of an anti-corruption journalist in a suburb of the capital, Accra.
Ahmed Hussein-Suale was killed three times by unknown motorcycle badailants, local press reported. He was a key member of the team of Ghana's investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
"I learned with sadness the badbadination of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, collaborator of investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas".
"I condemn the act unreservedly and express my condolences to his family. I expect from the police that the perpetrators of this heinous crime be arrested as soon as possible. Once again, my sincere condolences, "said the president in a tweet.
Anas, a journalist known for always wearing a face mask to hide his identity because of his high-risk investigations, announced Ahmed's death with a video showing a ruling party legislator threatening the deceased.
MP Agyapong: Fierce criticism of Anas
MP Kennedy Agyapong has become one of Anas' fiercest critics as a result of his infiltration report on corruption in the country's football entitled "Number 11."
Ahmed would have been an essential member of the team who discovered the rot that was spreading beyond Ghana and spreading to Africa as a whole. Social media reactions were mixed, but most people called the police to question the MP.
Agyapong has since rejected complicity, pointing out that he had nothing to gain from targeting Ahmed and that he had no time for the deceased.
His threat, made last year, included posting two photos of Ahmed indicating his place of residence and ordering anyone to see him hit him. Agyapong, also a media owner, has released a video that sought to reveal the true identity of Anas.
