Daniel Asiedu Killer Daniel Asiedu is the first accused in the ongoing murder trial

The High Court ordered a psychiatric badessment of Daniel Asiedu, the first defendant in the ongoing murder trial of former Abuakwa North MP, JB Danquah-Adu.

This follows a verbal request by Daniel Asiedu's attorneys, who told the court that they suspected their client might be suffering from a mental illness.

They said that this was based on some of the comments and behaviors that he had shown since the beginning of the case.

Lead counsel Augustine Obour recounted an incident when his client called him, ordering him to serve drinks at his coronation as a chef in Akuapem.

The prosecution objected to the motion arguing that the accused had not shown any signs of mental disorder.

Judge George Buadi, judge, said that he could not independently determine the mental health of the accused from his attitude, hence his decision to have him medically examined.

He added that the decision was also based on the need for a fair trial. Judge Buadi therefore sent Daniel Asiedu to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital for psychiatric examination.

JB Danquah-Adu was murdered at his home in Accra on February 9, 2016.

The preliminary facts of the prosecution were that the former deputy was living with his family in a one – story house in Shiashie, near East Legon, a suburb of Accra, while he was living with his family. Asiedu and Bosso lived in Agbogbloshie, also in Accra.

Around 11:40 am On February 8, 2016, the MP returned home in his private car.

The driver handed the car's ignition keys to Mr. Danquah-Adu and returned home. The MP then went to bed in a room on the first floor of his house.

About one o'clock in the morning, the same evening, Asiedu and Bosso, armed with a catapult, a knife and a sharp knife, went to the legislator.

Bosso would have helped Asiedu to enter the house by climbing the wall on the blind side of a security man who was sleeping soundly. Upon entering the house, Asiedu chose a ladder and climbed onto a porch on the top floor and entered the MP's room through a window while Mr. Danquah-Adu was sleeping.

As Asiedu searched the room, the member woke up and held him back. A struggle ensued during which Asiedu stabbed the deputy in the right bad, above the bad. The MP held the knife and Asiedu pulled it through his hand, leaving a deep cut in his palm.

The legislator blew profusely and fell beside his bed, after which Asiedu stabbed him several times in the chest and neck.

Realizing that the MP was dying, Asiedu left the room and took away three iPhones and fled with his accomplice.
