The United Nations in Ghana and former President Jerry John Rawlings have expressed their disgust at the flagrant murder of undercover journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale.

Suale, called by his close colleagues and family, was shot dead on 16 January near his home in Madina, Accra, by two unknown men.

According to a statement issued in Accra, the international body has "strongly condemned" the killing through its interim resident coordinator, Mrs. Sylvia Lopez-Ekra, while Rawlings, who tweeted via her official address, said that the murder of Suale could not succeed unsolved like others, adding that the dubious circumstances in which he was killed have "consequences for our security in the broad sense".
