Atlassian wants to make more money with Trello users

Users know Atlbadian primarily for its products Jira and Confluence, which are almost ubiquitous in the software development community. But the company is looking for more growth elsewhere, either at Trello or AgileCraft, which Atlbadian has just acquired for $ 166 million, according to a statement released Monday.

"We view Trello as an intriguing long-term monetization game," Mizuho badysts led by Gregg Moskowitz wrote in a note to customers on March 13.

Atlbadian's competitors include Microsoft, Salesforce, ServiceNow and Zendesk, as well as many start-ups. So raising prices is always a tricky issue.

Trello has 35 million registered users, up from 19 million approximately two years ago, and some already contribute revenues to Atlbadian. Trello has been offering quality standards for years and Atlbadian said it has acquired nearly 13,000 paying customers as part of the acquisition in 2017.

Trello said that current users of the free Teams product can add up to 10 additional cards without upgrading by May 1st. The change does not affect the number of cards, lists, and cards that each free user can create.

Mizuho badysts have anticipated this type of deal with Trello, telling customers "it is conceivable that we can see more monetization occur earlier than expected by investors."
