The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) condemned the assault on a Nigerian diplomat in Indonesia.
National President Uche Secondus said Nigerians were humiliated abroad under President Muhammadu Buhari.
He urged the government led by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to sanction Indonesia for the officer’s treatment.
The opposition leader has instructed Nigeria not to apply any coercion to respond to the situation.
In a statement, Secondus said no citizen deserves such treatment, noting that a foreign official represents the home country.
“These unnecessary insults to Nigerians must stop. The mismanagement of the PCA has contributed to aggravate this unfortunate development, we must protect our humanity in the courtesy of nations. “
Secondus called for the deportation of the Indonesian ambassador to Nigeria to serve as proportionate punishment.
The President of the PDP said that the development has strengthened the internal management of the rule of law in Nigeria by the Buhari administration.
He regretted that certain actions of the government did not fall under decency and constitutional provisions.
Secondus called on the Nigerian authorities to restore the dignity of nations abroad starting with the case of Indonesia.
The party leader warned nations around the world against further humiliation of Nigerians.
