Result Augsburg 2-3 Bayern Munich
Date: February 15, 2019
Place: Augsburg Arena
Bayern Munich fell to two points of Bundesliga leader Borussia Dortmund after being pulled back to beat Augsburg in a five-goal thriller.
The visitors took the worst possible start when the shot of Philipp Max deflected by Leon Goretzka was deflected and that he overtook Manuel Neuer.
After a shaky start, Bayern finally equalized 17 minutes when Joshua Kimmich's center found Kingsley Coman, who returned home at close range.
Bayern are currently enjoying their worst defensive record at this stage, conceding 24 goals in 21 Bundesliga matches this season.
These defensive woes worsened in 23 minutes when Ji Dong-Won restored Bayern's lead after centering Michael Gregoritsch's goal.
The level of visitors counts at half-time, and Coman completes the device with a clinical strike from the left foot at close range.
Eight minutes after the start of the second half, Bayern was leading for the first time in the match, when Coman turned to the supplier to pick David Alaba, who was shooting in the bottom corner.
As Liverpool approached this week, Niko Kovac chose to remove James Rodriguez and Serge Gnabry for the benefit of Thomas Muller and Franck Ribery.
Coman almost completed a hat trick in less than 20 minutes when his head was pushed from the crossbar to the far post.
The visitors were able to see the remaining stages with relatively relative ease now two points behind Dortmund, who is in action on Saturday.
