Authorities: 38 people now sick in Northwestern measles epidemic

VANCOUVER, Washington (AP) – Authorities say that there are now 38 confirmed cases of measles in a northwestern Pacific home.
Confirmed cases are mostly concentrated in southwestern Washington State, but include two people who traveled to Hawaii and another to Bend, Oregon.
In a statement released Wednesday, the Clark County Public Health Department announced 13 suspected cases. Of the confirmed cases, most patients are under 10 years old. Thirty-four have not been immunized against the disease.
Last week, Washington Governor Jay Inslee said the state of emergency due to the outbreak, which authorities say could last for months.
