A new study reveals evidence that autism spectrum disorders or ASDs are largely due to genetics and not to the environment, which discredits claims that it is related to the vaccine.
The largest study of this type involving more than 2 million people in five countries showed that the risk of ASD was 80% dependent on genes. Research has also downplayed fears that autism may be attributed to maternal factors.
The present study published in the journal JAMA Psychiatry indicates that all other factors unrelated to genetics account for 20% of a person's risk of ASD.
