ALBUQUERQUE, NM (AP) – An autopsy report confirms that an 8-year-old Guatemalan boy who died while under the care of the US Border Patrol on Christmas Eve succumbed to the flu .

The New Mexico Medical Examiner's office released its findings on Felipe Gomez Alonzo on Wednesday, two days after the Guatemalan authorities said the report revealing how the boy died was delivered to them.

Gomez Alonzo was one of two Guatemalan migrant children who died in detention in the United States in December.

The autopsy of the boy shows that he suffered from a staphylococcal infection of the blood and lungs. A toxicology report issued by the medical examiner shows that he had Benadryl in his system.

An autopsy published last week showed that Jakelin Caal Maquin, the other Guatemalan child who died in December, also had a bacterial infection.
